About Us

Simon Sineck says you should start with WHY? Western Gravel’s WHY is about values: Family, Community, Lifestyle and Integrity. Having served Montrose County and the surrounding areas for more than 45 years, consistently those values have been central to our organization. It begins with our founder, Jerry Trudell. A diesel mechanic by trade, he first came to Montrose Colorado to work for Dunlap Trucking. Our majestic scenery and the opportunity for a wonderful lifestyle caused him to stay. In 1973, while employed at Schneider’s Readi Mix, he made a deal to purchase the existing company from the owner. A classic American success story. With the help of two of early investors, the company made changes to create materials which met state and federal requirements. The company flourished. In 1988, our founder, Jerry Trudell bought out Montrose Concrete and merged the two companies. Western Gravel, Inc. was born.

In 1996 our current CEO, Judy Devincentis came on board. The daughter of the founder, things continued with no appreciable changes. A major expansion occurred in 2005, which allowed Western Garvel, Inc to better meet the needs of the community.

In 2016 Drew Abbott, who finished growing up in the Devincentis household and graduated from Montrose High School, brought his college education and construction experience home to Western Gravel, Inc. Drew became an owner of the company and currently manages the Western Gravel Constructors affiliated business, and serves as the Executive Vice President of Western Gravel, Inc. He lives here with his wife, (Jenny Evans Abbott also a Montrose High School Graduate) and their 4 children.

We are grateful to have the finest group of dedicated employees anywhere. We believe our team is also our family. Long term relationships are the foundation of our business. Many of our core team members have been at Western Gravel since its inception, and we boast some 2nd generation employees as well. Western Gravel, Inc. is extremely proud to have more than 150 years of combined experience on our management team. So WHY Western Gravel??? Aggregate

Western Gravel, Inc. supplies concrete redi-mix and aggregates. We offer a wide variety of aggregates including State Spec’d Class 6 (3/4” Road Base), Class 2 (3” Minus), 3” Road Base, 1 ½” Road Base, ¾” clean rock, 1 ½” Clean rock, Concrete Sand, Masonry Sand. We also have the ability to cover all your trucking needs. Steincrusher also offers specialty rock crushing. We actively pursue county crushing and have been bid and been awarded the Montrose County Crushing the last 2 years.

Construction

Western Gravel Constructors is a full-service General Contractor who specializes in heavy infrastructure. This includes roads, bridges, utilities, and pretty much everything in between. We work hard to incorporate our key partners.

Concrete

The Western Gravel Companies have been working hard to expand our services to try and make construction as easy as possible for our community. We currently provide:

- Redi-Mixed Concrete: 3/8” to ¾” aggregate ranging anywhere from 3000 PSI to 5500PSI. Indoor or outdoor and anything in between.

- Pre-Cast Concrete: Septic Tanks, Cistern Tanks, parking blocks, retaining blocks, retaining walls, manholes, CDOT Type 7 Barrier.
